SUMMARY:Strengthening scientific relationships between Spain and the Baltic countries
DESCRIPTION:ACEBaltic Annual Event\, \nStrengthening scientific relations between the Baltics and Spain \nACEBaltic Annual Event 2025 will take place on 28 November in Riga. It is conceived as a platform for science diplomacy\, which brings together high-level institutional representatives\, leading researchers\, and key stakeholders from Spain and the three Baltic countries\, fostering dialogue and strengthening scientific cooperation. \nThe program begins at the National Library of Latvia\, where the institutional and scientific sessions unfold. This part of the event provides an overview of ACEBaltic’s activities in 2025 and presents the Work Plan for 2026\, offering participants insight into the association’s strategic priorities for the coming year. \nThroughout the day\, attendees will engage with three thematic areas that define this edition. The first focuses on collaborative research\, showcasing concrete examples of joint scientific projects between Spain and the Baltic countries. The second addresses gender equality in science and academia\, bringing together prominent experts and institutional figures to compare approaches and reflect on shared challenges. The third explores multilingualism and the role of Spanish as a scientific language\, highlighting the importance of linguistic diversity in knowledge production. \nIn the evening\, the event will transition to a cultural programme at the Theatre Museum\, offering a warm and informal setting for continued exchange. The closing activities will feature the official reception hosted by the Ambassador of Spain to Latvia\, followed by a musical performance and a theatre play\, celebrating the vibrant cultural ties that complement the scientific relationships ACEBaltic promotes. \nACEBaltic warmly invites researchers\, institutions\, and members of the academic community to join us in Riga for an inspiring day that brings together scientific dialogue\, institutional collaboration\, and cultural engagement at the highest level.

SUMMARY:Call for papers for the Women in Science (WinS) International Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Association of Spanish Scientists in the Baltic Countries (ACEBaltic) invites the academic and institutional community to participate in the Women in Science (WinS) International Conference\, an international forum dedicated to advancing gender equality in science through research\, dialogue\, and policy exchange. \nThe conference will take place on 11–12 February 2026 at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius\, Lithuania\, in the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event is co-organized by Mykolas Romeris University and ACEBaltic\, with the collaboration of the Embassy of Spain in Lithuania\, the Ramón Areces Foundation\, and the European Women Rectors Association (EWORA). \nWinS will bring together institutions\, policymakers\, researchers\, and educators from all fields of knowledge\, fostering interdisciplinary perspectives on gender equality in science\, higher education\, and innovation. The programme includes keynote lectures and panel discussions led by international experts. DESCRIPTION:The Association of Spanish Scientists in the Baltic Countries (ACEBaltic) is pleased to announce the First Edition of the “Antonia Ferrín Moreiras” Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis in Astronomy and Astrophysics in the Baltic Countries. This award honors the legacy of Prof. Dr. Antonia Ferrín Moreiras\, a pioneer of Astronomy as the first Spanish woman to be awarded a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics. The prize aims to recognize outstanding doctoral research in the field. The call is open to PhD theses defended between the 1st of January 2020 and the 31st of December 2025 universities in Lithuania\, Latvia\, and Estonia. Applications will be accepted from 11th February to 30th March 2026. The award includes a monetary prize of €1\,500\, as well as a medal and/or diploma\, and will be presented at the Award Ceremony in Vilnius on the 21st of May 2026. \nApplications must be submitted by email to info@acebaltic.eu. Este premio honra el legado de la Dra. Antonia Ferrín Moreiras\, pionera de la astronomía como la primera mujer española en obtener un doctorado en Astronomía y Astrofísica. El premio tiene como objetivo reconocer la investigación doctoral de excelencia en el campo. La convocatoria está abierta a tesis doctorales defendidas entre el 1 de enero de 2020 y el 31 de diciembre de 2025 en universidades de Lituania\, Letonia y Estonia.
